Taking Care of Yourself: A Comprehensive Guide to Mental Health
So much of our lives are spent taking care of others. We take care of our families, our friends, our jobs, and more. It's easy to forget to take care of ourselves in the process. That's why it's so important to prioritize mental health and wellbeing. In this blog post we'll look at the various ways yoga, mindfulness, and other activities can help you cope with life after a loss or during a difficult time such as cancer treatment. Yoga became my saving grace after my parents died from cancer and I’ve found it therapeutic to help others cope with their trials in life.
Yoga for Mental Health
Yoga is an incredibly powerful form of exercise that helps strengthen both your body and your mind. Physically, it builds strength, increases flexibility, and improves balance. Mentally, it helps reduce stress levels and teaches us how to be mindful in all aspects of life. Studies have shown that practicing yoga regularly can also improve sleep quality and reduce inflammation throughout the body—both important factors in maintaining good mental health.
Mindfulness for Loss of Parents
Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment without judgment or expectation. When dealing with grief over losing a parent or loved one, mindfulness can help us focus on what we can control in the present instead of ruminating on what has already happened in the past. Mindfulness can help us stay connected to our emotions while still allowing us to move forward with life in a healthy way by teaching us how to accept what we cannot change and embrace what we can do today to make tomorrow better than yesterday. I had to learn this fast as both of my parents passed in consecutive years. I was forced with a decision to lay in my sorrows or keep moving forward.
Cancer & Mindfulness
Cancer is an incredibly challenging diagnosis for anyone to deal with—mentally as well as physically. I’ll never forget the gut wrenching feeling I felt after the doctor told my dad that the cancer had returned to his bones this time. Mindfulness exercises can be particularly helpful during this time as they provide an outlet for managing stress while potentially helping manage physical pain as well. Some studies have even suggested that mindfulness practices may help boost immunity levels during cancer treatments! Additionally, because mindfulness focuses on being present in the moment without judgment or expectation, it can be especially helpful when dealing with feelings of uncertainty and fear associated with a cancer diagnosis or treatment plan.
Taking care of yourself is essential when going through difficult times like losing a parent or dealing with cancer—and yoga and mindfulness are great tools for doing just that! Whether you're looking for ways to stay connected with your emotions during grief or looking for ways to manage stress during cancer treatments—yoga and mindfulness are two forms of self-care that can help you cope effectively no matter what life throws at you! Remembering to prioritize your own mental health isn't selfish - it's necessary for living a happy and healthy life!
With trauma release through yoga and mindfulness practices, you can find peace in the midst of your trauma. So go ahead and take that first step towards healing today! Namaste.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.
Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
